The Space Between The Notes

The space between the notes,

Is white,

Is blank.

Yet something is actually there…

A moment’s pause,

All sit and wait,

The motion suspended

In the air.

Adjustments made,

Felt through a glance,

Though little was spoken

Or thought,

Yet temperament comes

Piercing through.

My mood,

My breath,

And posture forced through chair.

Each tiny detail.

The note is polished with

A moment’s pause –

What’s read in the space

Between the notes.

It’s white…but,

A shade of difference

Each time.

One cannot hear,

The something that is there…

One Response to Silence

  1. Michael Woerl says:

“Where does music enter,” and “If all of you is listening” both describe my realtionship with music perfectly. Fantastic! I have only seen your surname one other time-in high school. Do you also pronounce it as “Petshock?” Lovely, lovely poetry…musically lovely!
